Irritants applied while training dogs.
Two irritants are used conditional and unconditional.
With the help of these irritants we influence on our dog's nervous
system every day. One should know some their peculiarities to train
a dog.
Unconditional irritants.
Unconditional irritants are such irritants which cause corresponded
reflex. They are used as mechanic and food factors.
To receive wanted action from a dog it is necessary to find a stimulus
which will cause a reaction needed. So to make a dog lay down you
need to press its crest and encourage it with dainties.
Mechanical irritant is a physical affecting on a dog (press with
a hand etc)
While applying it individual peculiarities of a dog should be taken
into account. As it may cause braking in training. A dog is depressed
in this case and it also accompanied with passive-defensive reaction
(fear, nestling to on the ground, attempts to run away).
Besides while training a dog very important is the use of food irritants
(dainties).
You should give dainties only if a dog is interested in it. It means
it's better to train a dog 4 hours before or 4 hours after feeding.
But you could give them only in case a dog made that command.
Dainties can affect a dog as an unconditional or conditional irritant.
It will be unconditional if they affect mucous membrane of mouth
cavity directly. In one word when we give dainties to a dog.
And when we only show them to a dog, but not give they affect by
their smell and view so as an unconditional irritant. If we show
dainties and give a command they will be a conditional irritant.
Conditional irritants.
The main conditional irritants which we use to train dogs are commands
and gestures.
When we pronounce a command an intonation is very important as a
certain stimulus.
There are three kinds of intonation order, tender, menaced.
Commands with order intonation should be pronounced loud with inflection
of insistence. It is used for improvement the majority of commands.
The words with menaced intonation are pronounced sharp and strict.
It's used for such command as "No".
And tender intonation is used to compliment for made commands.
Gestures are used as visual irritants.
Gestures are certain movements of a hand and we make them to teach
a dog a necessary command.
They can be used to control a dog from long distance.
To make training successes it's necessary to combine conditional
and unconditional irritants.
